I've been reading about the braking stuff and many many swaps for the rear drums to discs, here I've found people who change the hole system and some others that found a way to do it without change a thing.
so my questions increase instead of be resolved, couple of days ago I take off the drums to a regular clean and start searching to see if its possible to just put some rear Rotor from a Celica that will fit right away in my hand brake system. some say about ST165 some others say ST185, and many others make a swap for a GT application. I know that if there a way to fit a rear rotor to the actual system I'll need to find a way to put the caliper brace and the caliper. so is there a way to do this, or if the GT rotor from 6th Gen will fit (i don't think so cuz it looks smaller). by the way my Celi is an AT200 Celica ST 1994 checking the web many people sell both front and rear rotors, can I use the front rotors from ST185 with my actual calipers ? I have same concern, but one more thing is the brake pressure for the6th gen ST rear drum is 551 psi and for the 6th gt (5sfe) rotor is 645 psi, there is almost 100 psi in different. i think the old proportioning valve need to be change for the rear caliper car model because it not enough pressure for the caliper to work properly. I say it will works but it's not really enough pressure to force the brake piston out to clamp the rotor. that's is my opinion, because I check TIS (Toyota repair manual web site) they say if the brake pressure is incorrect, change the proportioning valve or else it is not function properly. i am planning to do this too.
Anyone correct me if I am wrong. This post has been edited by vi-tuyen: Jun 29, 2009 - 8:56 PM |
