I was just wondering what the application for ground wires are for. Also would it help in performance at all?

Being an electronics tech by trade, I say it would help only if you have a problem with the existing grounds,
On the other hand, it CANT hurt anything, and I will be 1st to admit the factory uses the thinnest wire they can get away with (for cost and weight reasons) one of my favorite "mods" used to be to use a mid-70's Ford Bat ground wire, it already had a 2nd lug soldered on about 1/2 way down, so you had a 4GA direct connection between Bat/frame/eng block. beat hell out of those thin, braided straps a lot of cars had then between the eng. and firewall, (which, incidently got left off now and then when installing chrome valve covers etc, thus melting the wiring, shift cable or throttle cable or whatever path to ground was left when you turned on the lights, or when you hit the starter after moving the bat ground to the frame...) |
