I've never knew our cars have syncro. I bought the car used, tried down shift and it grinded. I've been double clutching during down shift ever since....
So just right now couple minutes ago, 4~5 years after I got the car, I found out our cars have syncro, so I'm guessing mine is crapped up since I couldn't down shift without double clutching? Does it cost a lot to fix? Is it just an electronic/mechanical piece I have to change out? Can I umm... keep double clutching and just ignore it? Thanks for your help! -------------------- |

AFAIK syncros are fairly expensive to replace. They would have to drop your tranny and tear it apart. The part itself is probably cheap, but the labor will be extensive.
My friend has been driving with a bad syncro as well for the past year or two. Your car will work fine, but shifting will be an issue. Best bet would be to call up a shop and ask what they would charge for that service. Or, just do a swap. The new tranny will have a working syncro. :-D -TC -------------------- Live your life for yourself. Don't hold back for anything or anyone.
