Help tranny problem, no 2nd, 4th, or reverse Options

I'm not sure if this is an easy fix or a very hard one. That being said here goes...

I cannot shift into 2nd 4th and reverse. I pulled out in 1st gear and tried getting in to 2nd. i got in 2nd, but the gear felt real mushy, and i did not even notice it was in gear. so i shift up to 3rd fine, but when i tried to get into 4th it was real mushy again. I then proceeded to pull over

For some reason i shut the car off and then fired it back up. I tried getting in to 2nd, 4th, and reverse, Nothing at all. My dad is really mad at me because he thinks I am running my car to hard(I treat my car like a baby btw), and he has no idea whats wrong with it.

Please any suggestions of what might be wrong will be greatly appreciated

I have the same problem with 1st 3rd and 5th but its not the clips, same normal driving into second but cant shift up....terrible time for it to happen
