I have no one else to ask who may or may not know this and I am curious....
Ok here it goes. I have seen a few AWD cars turn into RWD cars, or more power put into the rear than the front. How is this done and is it possible for people to do this to the AWD GT-Four? Secondly, I was curious, and this goes for you all out there who have swapped, with some cars that have a swapped engine, I have been told that the gauges need to be changed over too, if the car is capable of reaching higher rpms. So when you swap from a 5sfe to a 3sgte, do you have to change your gauges? And if not then, what about when you stroke the engine to 2.2L? Because I am not sure on the conversion, but I think the GT-Fours redline a bit past where a GT would normally redline, and yet the Km/H seem either equal or less to a stock US GT Celica on max mph on the gauge. Any knowledge to be shed would be appreciated. -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

What do you mean, "are they the same"?

What do you mean, "are they the same"? Well like.... The forged pistons from these people the same as from JUN or HKS? Plus the crankshaft, I mean it would make sense if it did come out of a 5sfe, seeing how if we need to turbo the 5s, people go with the 3s heads, and we are aware it isn't good to just slap a turbo on a high compression vehicle that wasn't originally made for turbo. So using the 2.2L crankshaft from a 5sfte would make sense, but does it drop into the 3sgte block? I guess it would if you are using a 3sgte, because if you used a 5s block, might as well go 5sfte and swap heads..... Well if they are the same thing, then I suppose it would be better to go that route when one decides to do the 2.2L stroker kit, for $3k to have it bored out, with pistons and crank w/rods, I would have to say that isn't a bad deal at all...... oh and the $300 core charge included in that figure, not bad at all.. No you don't need to swap gauges. When I had the 20V it would get pegged out on the factory tach, since the blacktop ECU let's you run it out to 8,500. As far as power split, Toyotas don't have a controllable center differential (DCCD), so there is no uneven power split- however I'm sure you could get it to work with enough money. Now converting from AWD to RWD is simply deleting the front axles so that all power is sent to the rear. Really, deleting the front axles? Is it that simple? Or would that cause a problem? I honestly prefer to go AWD in the future, but I might look into other options as well, it never hurts. To be honest, I think the 6gc would make an excellent drift car, vs other Toyota RWD vehicles that are rather too heavy.
