ok , i just bought a 94 celica. it's an automatic gt. i drove it a few times and it started with no problem. but the other night when i got to my gf's house and tried to start it again it wouldn't budge. at first i thought it was either the shift lock, ignition, neutral safety switch, fuse, or starter.it so far has been neither. i changed the entire shifter assembly and plugs.nothing. now the car wont let me have my key back unless i remove a terminal from the battery. and when i try to start it the clock goes dim but it wont start. I also ran a jumper from the 12v positive on the battery to the starter and it will crank but not run. and yes i had the key in the on position. does anyone have a clue what might be going on? i also checked the trans. fluid level and its fine.

can someone please help. I'm running low on time before i lose this car.i changed the neutral safety switch at the tranny. and now the reverse lights come on when i put it in reverse but it still won't start. and the radio keeps its channels when i remove the battery. umm the car still switches thru gears without depressing the brakes, and i ran a jumper to the starter while the car was in reverse and the car didn't move so it seems like the starter is not turning the flywheel.
