so i recently had the above done, and well i have 128k+ miles on my car, and i guess the timing belt HAS NEVER BEEN CHANGED BEFORE! i had the original belt on since the car was purchased from a dealer!
my mechanic said he has never before seen this in his many many years.i wanted to snap some pictures of it but he wouldnt let me keep it, as he wanted to display it in the shop! i do not know how my car has survived for so long. it could have "exploded" at any moment in time. guess it was good when i got it done. also, i had lots of leaks and i guess oil was dripping on my belt, which i believe helped it not break. idk though, has anyone else ever heard of a belt lasting this long!?!?!? -------------------- A work in (extremely slow) progress

my water pump blew up at 98k miles. developed a small leak. But my timing belt was in new condition.
i once service a honda with 135k miles on the orginal timing belt. The belt was on the verge of breaking with missing teeth. |
