was reading in mr2 this, making a hybrid S54/S51. Using the internals from a camry tranny into ours. in the case that e153 is difficult to find or get.
he S54 housing with S51 internals gives you great gear ratios (similar to the E153) without the added weight. Well, from my experience the s54 tranny doesn't like power over 300whp, Or possibly reving to 9k.
The s54 is tiny compared to the e153, I'd rather have the added weight (which isn't too drastic) than risk ripping gears apart. That along with what has ben mentioned, the LSD and longer gears. -------------------- |
