Hey guys,
Every time I go from 1st to second gear, if I don't ease it in real slow than it will grind... Usually if I'm up to or higher than 3k RPMs in first and shift, it will grind regardless. All the other gears go in real easy, and as fast as I can put them in. Does anyone have a reason for me as to why this might be happening? -------------------- |

It does help but its not going to be a night and day difference. I've used Pennzoil Synchromesh in 5 or 6 vehicles I've had in the past and generally do like it, however I'd say it's more so dependent on the condition of the transmission and when the gear oil was last changed than the brand of oil used... For $25-30 bucks, it may be worth it as temporary fix, if nothing more than a bandaid.
Call a transmission shop in your area and ask them how much it would be to replace the synchro(s). Also, if you can take the transmission out of your Celica, it'll be much cheaper. You say it shifts into the other gears very easily, so to me it sounds like it'd be money more wisely spent than finding another transmission and having....3rd gear not shift smoothly. |
