Just bought a 96 GT hatch. Haven't really done anything to it yet except get the exhaust fixed. Driving just fine to my mechanic's house to have him look at it and all of a sudden I start to hear a clinking noise. He says it's a rod and the dealership quoted me $1400 in labor and about $3k in parts.....Please, anyone have some helpful information on what I should do and the least expensive way to fix it? Thanks

Basically, a 3SGTE will drop in to a GT's motor mounts and bolt straight up to the transmission, where in an ST you would need to change out the mounts and get a GT or MR2 transmission. If you had a clip or a halfcut it would be a piece of cake for GT or ST.

Not really. it's still a bunch of tranny parts for ST even with a halfcut [Unless you get MR2 and then you have that BS to deal with] What Steven was saying is GT + halfcut = done Not true with ST -------------------- ![]() ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them.
