There's this guy selling a tranny for my 5SFE right where I live for about $200 with only 50,000 miles on it. (Is that a good deal?) The tranny came off a JDM engine, I beleive it was a celica also. I was just wondering if the JDM tranny would be compatible with the clutch kit and flywheels over here? The reason I am trying to get hold of a tranny, is because my 3rd gear is grinding like CRAZY. I tried the synchromesh fluid like everyone else on hear, but unfortunately, my results didn't come out as good as everyone elses did. My synchro in third gear shot, and now I drive with out a third gear (for the majority of the time). Please let me know if I would be able to use this tranny on my engine as I would be very happy if it does work.

Thanks to the 6gc community in advanced for the help, Ryan

EDIT: Here are some pics of the tranny. I checked it out, and it seems to be the correct one. I don't know if you guys can tell if it's the right one just by looking at it, but here you go.

I know it's very dirty, but I'm gonna use some HEAVY degreaser and clean it up. Any certain way I should attempt to try and clean it, or just some Purple Power and a pressure washer will do????

3S-GE uses the same S54 but with closer ratios -- Sometimes even with front lsd.

You may find that your gears have slightly lower top speeds.

Just get some real information. What car exactly, if the gearbox model number is unknown, someone will be able to tell you exactly based on what the car was, (year, engine, car model, country of origin or even simply just the chassis code)

If it was a Celica or MR2 or Camry or any car with an S series or related engine it will work, If it was from a GT4 (gearbox E154F) then as someone mentions you'll have to do something about that rear drive shaft.

WHAT? So that mean I'll be losing some MPG's???? What the hell? I mean, I don't really care for the top speeds, will this be a big impact on my MPG? But yea, if it comes with the LSD that's good right?
