I had my car painted and I received it almost 2 weeks ago. Well it got a bit dirty since then and I was hoping to give it a good wash. Instead I brought it down to the car wash and just sprayed water on it (no pressure) to clean off some of the dirt. This sucks because I didn't get all of it. When can I realistically give it a good wash and I mean with full pressure, soap, and maybe some wax??
A bunch of my buddies say that I should just keep rinsing it maybe 2x's a week while others say wait at least 30-45 days for a full cure. I'm lost. |

it depends if the car was kept in a heated chamber for the paint to cure after the paint job. if that's the case, normally you should be ok to wash the car using regular pressure. i would be careful hand drying it with towels as it may leave scratches on the fresh clear coat. i wouldn't hand dry until after a week passes and will only use brand new microfiber towels.
if the paint wasn't baked to cure, then i would wait about 1 week before washing the car, and maybe about 2 weeks before hand drying it. but that's just me. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

If you're paint wasn't baked enough to cure it and let it sit in, then putting any type of pressure could harm your paint in the long run. When I had my sisters car painted, I let it sit outside in the sun for about 3 weeks before I actually washed it. Yea I sprayed it down once or twice, but I made sure that the paint was baked in GOOD before I even thought about washing it. |
