Like it says 87, 91 or more? whats better for performance or gas milage?

i have 2 cars.
94 Saturn SC1 - gets 46mpg, and i use premium (93) all the way. i've noticedthe milage is SLIGHTLY better, and it does give the car a little more power... main reason i started putting premium in this thing was because i need it in order to make it up hills....  in all honesty, it's got somewhere between 160,xxx-200,xxx miles on, and running the LK0 SOHC engine, only 85bhp.... havn't been home in 10 months, not sure how often my mom drive it. 94 Celica GT - not quite sure, havn't been in 10 months and only owned her for 3 thus far... but i told my mom while she's "jogging" the cars to only use PREMIUM ONLY because it's a little easier on the engines, seems cleaner (maybe it's just me?), and call me crazy.. i could almost SWEAR my cars always have something of a "personality" and "memory" of their own...
