Audio Questions, Im a dumbass and need some explaining Options

so this isnt necessaraly for now, but i was thinking after i get my interior redone i wanna work on the audio system in my car. and well i know absolutely nothing about that stuff. i mean like what brands are good and what should i look for? what are the sizes and if i buy the right size can i just replace them, im hoping to do this all by myself. i dont think its that difficult its just im so foreign to it that i dont really know what to do and dont want to get ripped off if i try to buy the stuff at a store. i dont want to spend too much but i want a pretty good sounding system. what can i do to get good bass? i dont want to put in subs in my trunk. thanks.

Remanight, I didn't say there's anything wrong with that. On the contrary, it's a lot of fun to have a couple of 12's hitting as hard as they can. I just meant that the hatchback design of our cars is perfect for a sound system. A single 12 with ample power is plenty loud enough, and anything else is overkill and destroying your hearing. There's a reason I got rid of that L5, box, amp, and wiring for $64 within 2 months of buying it all. I noticed I could barely hear what anyone, especially girls, were saying when they were talking to me. I would always have to ask them to repeat it. It sucked hard. I decided my hearing was moe important than being heard from 2 miles away, so I sold that setup and went stock until last month, and now I'm rocking a JL Audio 10Wo with a 300 watt amp turned way down, and it's perfect for my tastes, although there's almost nothing there for anyone else. Lilgreenyoda, you see my point exactly! A single 12 can be tuned perfectly for a hatchback Celi. Anything else is just for bragging rights and strictly for fun. And it's definitely fun.
