Hey guys,
I was bored this morning, so I started on a fiberglass subwoofer enclosure for my car. The enclosure will hold one ten inch subwoofer, and I'm trying to make the enclosure volume be approximately .75 cubic feet. More photos will be posted as my project progresses, and once it's done, I'll make a how-to article with more details and things like that for the site. Today I masked off the area where I want the enclosure using masking tape and aluminum foil. This took me about two hours, because I quickly ran out of my 3" wide masking tape, and the 1" thick blue masking tape didn't stick very well, so I had to use a lot of .75" masking tape. I used aluminum foil for a couple large flat areas, though in the future I don't plan to use it, as when you're laying the fiberglass, it tends to pull up a bit. After the car was masked and I ate thanksgiving dinner, I went back and laid down the first layer of fiberglass, which took me about 2 hours. The fiberglass is curing right now, and tomorrow I should be able to take it out of the car and put on a couple more layers after I cut the fiberglass. Below is a photo of my progress so far.

There's no way I could mass-produce these things. It just takes so much time, and it's a lot of tedious work. I suppose that if someone paid me enough, I could make one for someone though. On this one alone, I've already spent at least six hours, and it's going to take a lot more time and effort to finish it.  That said, I plan to sell this one(assuming it turns out nicely) when I upgrade to an Elemental Designs 12" sub, as this enclosure is designed to hold a 10" sub. Just to let you guys know about the status of this, I put on a third layer today. I'd post a pic, but it looks just like the one I posted yesterday.
