In some of my car pictures, you see a Dakota. That Dakota belongs to my best friend Mike.
![]() ![]() After school yesterday, we were going to my friend's house named Joe. He is the leader of our car club. We pulled up to the stop light making a left turn. There is 2 lanes to turn left. We were in the right one, so he had to get around the corner and speed up to get around the cars in the left lane, because the right lane turns off. While we were stopped at the red light, we got onto our 2way radio. We were chatting it up waiting for the red light to turn green. I told him, "Hey, you're probably faster than me now that I have all this weight in my car" (I was carrying 3 15s for my friend, it weighed my car down a lot). And we both laughed at the light turned green. He went to the center of the intersection, and pressed the gas hard before fully straightening out. He lost control, over corrected and flew into the side walk, hit a tree all the way down the right side of his car which spun him into a concrete wall, still having enough momentum to make the truck fully lift off the ground and come to a complete stop in the middle of the sidewalk. When he hit the tree, his side mirror flew off into his window and shattered on his face. He is a little cut up, but okay. He has only had his license for 2 weeks. He has spent over $3,000 in modifications to the truck. It has been all I can think about since then. I've seen many accidents happen right before me, but none like this. He is my best friend, he babies his truck, and I talked to him 2 seconds before it happened. The truck is totaled. Luckily, no students were walking on the sidewalk where the accident took place. This could have been a lot worse. I'm glad we only lost the truck. He didn't swerve into me (behind him) or the car to his left, he controlled it enough to not injure anyone else. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Please keep him in your prayers. Very hard lesson learned. I've never been driving safer in my life. This post has been edited by johnnehh: Nov 14, 2009 - 3:43 PM -------------------- 1996 Toyota Celica GT (GT4 conversion) - SOLD :(

It sounds to me like watching this happen right in front of you shook some sense into you as well. Definitely. my question is, if he just got his license, how old is this guy and what does he do for a living to have 3k in mods on his truck? His dad is a boss for a company (I don't know the name) and Michael (guy with the truck) gets an allowance every week for food, movies, etc. He doesn't ever eat lunch, he saves money and puts it into his truck. He never goes out to the movies with us, nothing. Every cent he gets goes into his truck. Better question: how much of an a** beating did this kid get from his parents? If he has only had his license for a couple of weeks, that means mommy and daddy bought the truck & the mods. When his dad arrived on scene, he walked right by Michael (guy with the truck) and right by the cops and just looked at the truck, and then turned and looked at the skid-marks on the road. He turned around and yelled "ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME? JUST LIKE I THOUGHT. HAULING ASS." Then after awhile he calmed down and chilled out a little bit. His punishment was the truck, and honestly, I think it's enough. He lost his baby for his stupidity, and he knows it. He has to get a job now and dish out enough cash for another car. This is why my child will get a corolla, and that's it. No power or torque to speak of. That's why I got a Celica ![]() This post has been edited by johnnehh: Nov 16, 2009 - 5:57 PM -------------------- 1996 Toyota Celica GT (GT4 conversion) - SOLD :(

Every cent he gets goes into his truck. That's pretty retarded too...I mean, I don't go to the movies because I don't like sitting in a smelly theater with a sticky floor, and because it's expensive...but just putting EVERYTHING into a car is a little senseless. Anyway J, you seem to have a pretty decent head on your shoulders and that's all that matters.
