I have the 7afe and I always have this problem with the toyota's i've owned. When I check the oil, the dip stick will show more oil on one side than the other depending on which way I put it in. I feel stupid asking this question but I just don't know the answer. Which direction does the guage part of the oil dip stick go in, facing the front of the car or to the rear of the car.

Hm, interesting. I have no idea which way its supposed to go (or if theres even really a spec on that). How much different is it? Remember, its not a precision instrument
 . I would just average the 2 levels and call that good.
