I have the 7afe and I always have this problem with the toyota's i've owned. When I check the oil, the dip stick will show more oil on one side than the other depending on which way I put it in. I feel stupid asking this question but I just don't know the answer. Which direction does the guage part of the oil dip stick go in, facing the front of the car or to the rear of the car.

How to check your engine oil:
1) Go on a plane ground
2) Do it before your first start of the day. So ,you should get the same read on the two side of your stick.
3) If you do it AFTER your first start, let your engine for 1 or 2 minute off. Then, take your reading. If you get 2 different read, the best one is the lower one. Some oil have "overflow" in your stick-tube, then make the higer reading.

The only important thing is this; if you see no oil, then put it one in.
