Alright so awhile back I decided to ditch the old kenwood deck w/ ballin tape player and 10 disc changer (broken) in the trunk...for this pioneer
here Here is what I want to do. my stock speakers are going. I want to replace the back and the front and at some point later, the tweeters(although they are last on the list) I plan on sound proofing the car with the duct insulation and foam padding, and putting squares of dynamat directly behind the speaker (on the door) I don't want to add any speakers, just replace these ones. My stepdad has a 8in mtx audio sub he has never used (bought 2 and only put one in his truck) and there is a strong chance I can have it. If that happens I would like to put it in, but tuck it. Questions, Do I need an amp? What are some good speakers...better than oem, not bose. Anything is an improvement at this point. would staying pioneer be better? I realize the head unit isn't much, I am not looking for the best sound system, (no trunk full of bass) just something cleaner and quieter that works with what i have, basically, how can i maximize what i have? I don't listen to rap but everything else, seriously, from choirs, to country, rock, classic and new, and especially blues and lots of guitar stuff (bb king, SRV, clapton, mayer, eagles, zz top etc.) Basically if they go to the crossroads guitar festival, I listen to them. thanks in advance (and i am going to read crutchfield for more info) This post has been edited by 97celiman: Nov 23, 2009 - 11:58 PM |

If they're shallow enough, I believe you can. I don't think 8" speakers exist anymore, only 8" subs.

Memphis makes a marine speaker in eight-inch (given we're talking doors a marine build isn't a bad idea), Focal has its 210 CA1 (which I'm using and absolutely loving), Partsexpress.com has a wide selection of cheap (and I do mean cheap) eight-inchers, or you can look at madisound.com for a wide variety of eight-inch designs. |
