So I have a st205 swapped celica and I'm debating on how to move forward with it. I've already put a couple k in it but I'm at a point where if I put anymore money into it I might as well keep the car forever because I'll never get what I put into it back if I were to sell it down the road kindasad.gif I've been in contact with a local shop about a full engine build and tune and I'm not really sure if it's worth moving forward with it. This car is primarily a show car / nice weather driver...so maybe it's worth saving my pennies and getting something I can fix up and drive everyday. I see many members on here selling their swapped celicas. What do you guys think?

Sir/Mam

I dont think that you are fully aware of why members with swapped celicas are selling them
I also think that you, perhaps, need to re-evaluate your priorities.

I shall start with the first one. Most members with swapped cars are college graduates who were on this forum since high school and have driven their celicas and loved them and at age 25+ with a career job etc many are planning to start a family. That is not to say that same scenario applies to all 25+ year olds but after 10 years+ of celica ownership we need an upgrade that fits our now bigger wallets.

Also you reason like a typical american (no nationalism pun intended) where they wish to get something out what is rapidly depreciating. You should not think of selling your car to try to re-coup some of money you have put into it. The second you swapped an engine your car value dropped to 0. Does not matter how many bumpers and spoilers you have and how much horse power is now under your hood. It value is 0 because MOST people would never even think of spending that much money on a hatch and patch vehicle that is 15 years old. That would be a bad investment. So with that respect your car is now only worth what its worth to another celica enthusiast.

You need to take a hard look at where you life is and what you are interested in and how much money you have and go from there. I can only advise you not to get yourself into a financial crunch and or in a position where you have to have a vehicle and yours is either broken or sold.

best of luck making your decision
