what is this car all about?? i've seen one around my town i believe its 5th gen. but they sure look pathetic

The STX and the GTX are dealer optioned STs and GTs.
That is it. The options varied from dealer to dealer. The options include, but were not limited to: Sunroof, premium allow wheels, air conditioning, power windows, cruise control and exterior options such as a spoiler and graphics. That means than an STX or a GTX are not factory, but they are included 'Dealer Trim Options' same as how modern cars have 'Convenience Package Group A' or similar. Other than being more optioned, they are no different than a normal ST or GT. They do exist. They are not a separate Trim Level. And I have never heard of a pre facelift 5th Gen STX having 5 lugs from the dealer.
