what is the difference between the two? is there any extra hardware required for the sleeves?

A sleeve you will need to specify the spring rate and consequently you will need a shock that will be able to work with that spring rate.
otherwise your handling/ride will suck.

buying a full coilover you are more likely (99% more) to have a better matched setup that will function better on your car.

yea... full coils are the way to go!
