I'm wanting to stuff a PS2 into my glove compartment and wire it.. somehow.. but I'll work on that later. I've been searching around for a while and I very much like how Celica3sgte has done it, but when I physically try myself (take my ps2 and attempt it into the glove box), it just won't fit (and close). From the looks of things (and since his car is totally re-done as-is..), how can the glove compartment be removed? are there any replacement ones that are thinner that would allow fitment of a PS2?

Have any suggestions regarding that issue, like how to make it fit better, etc..? Another place that would work well for cheap? I mean, I'd kill for Mr7afe's setup in the backseat, but well, let's face it, I don't have infinite money.

Well, I couldn't get it out.. but I don't think I need to with the current setup I'm debating. I have this kickass pair of glasses (search on google-- Olympus Eye-Trek), that hook into an A/V source (i.e., video game system), and display two 65" equivalent screens, one in each eye. Pretty badass if I say so myself =D. I also have a portable dvd player, similar to the ones you see.. everywhere, but without a screen, it's made specifically for the glasses and is super-flat (not thick at all). Best of all, both of these run off of rechargable Li-Ion batteries, with excellent battery life (~4 hours), so I won't have to worry so much about wiring, power consumption, etc. I'm going to velcro the battery from the dvd player into my glove compartment, and the glasses battery will be velcro'ed next to it as well. The dvd player just connects to the battery, so when I'm out of the car, I'll take it off and put it in the trunk or something.. and the wires will be tied down hidden out of way. Simple dvd system. When the batteries die, I just rip it off, recharge at home, put it back in in a few hours.

Since I want a video game system of some sort, I figure I should start with something I wouldn't mind breaking as much, while I'm still learning. Enter Dreamcast. I happen to have two of these (it's so damn cheap), so I'm going to get some really really strong (like industrial-strength) velcro and attach it to the back of the center armrest. Fits _perfectly_, seats can still recline, move back/forth, and it gently rubs up against the system. Whenever I leave the car, again, I just take the system out.. simple. Probably going to get a power inverter for the cigarette lighter, run the wire from that through my center armrest and into the Dreamcast, maybe hide a power strip somewhere under that incase I want to do future modifications (ps2 anyone?).. so that should work pretty well. The only downside, when I want to play Dreamcast (or any system on the glasses), I have to use an external battery that, quite simply, is 4 AA batteries, and dies rather quickly.

Would having two things that consume much power like that hooked up to a power inverter in your cig lighter be safe? Would it cause abnormal battery drain?

Let me know, and also tell me if you have any suggestions.

Thanks!
-Brian

Note: The glasses/dvd setup in my glove box looks like something so badass it'd only be in kuya's or doGGy's car.. they'll see it and instantly want to buy it from me. Gonna kickass. =D
