This isn't a post a pic of your pet forum (I know there is one like that somewhere), this is a breed specific thread.
I own a pit-bull mix named Bella, as pictured below in my signature. She is a mature 1.5 years old female, and so far has not developed any negative behaviors towards other dogs (as so well documented in news reports). In fact, she has been one of the easiest dogs to train not to be aggressive. Many pit-bulls are very easy to train and are not aggressive at birth. Yes they are very strong and will use that strength if need be (I've seen her in action), but for the most part, she is a very mild tempered dog and most of the breed is like this. She is a mid to high energy dog, very typical of pit as they needed a lot of energy for what they were designed for. She has a smooth coat, and is about 50 pounds. Typically a pure-bred pit is about 40 pounds and a bit more muscular. They are intelligent and typically want to please their masters, though she does retain a bit of independence and when given the chance loves to use her nose to sniff and find stuff. She likes it when she has stuff to do and a job, as most of the breed likes it when they have a defined job to do. What type of dog do you own and what are some of its breed's characteristics? -------------------- Brand new 6gc owner! (sort of 2011)

We have a 9 month old black Maine Coon (long haired cat...that's going to be huge.) that we rescued. He's the most interesting cat I've ever seen. He follows you everywhere, loves to play fetch, is affectionate, playful... he's really quite amazing. It's a great "first time cat owner" bread to start with, though I seriously condone rescuing a cat before breeding one.
The funny thing is that we just thought he was a long haired domestic when we got him. It wasn't until he started to grow that his features bloomed. To give you an idea. Maine Coons grow till they are 3-4 years old! They are HUGE. The first picture is him at 3 months. The second is him at 8 months. There's a huge difference. ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by CastrolCelica: Jan 25, 2010 - 12:37 PM -------------------- ![]() |
