St. Louis AutoShow 2010 Options

well, yesterday I went to the St. Louis Autoshow and had a really good time.

here are some things that I found interesting while there...

• The St. Louis Corvette collector's club was there, and yes, I still love corvettes. I especially want a '62 in red.
• the Hyundai Genesis 2.0Track is a really cheap sports car that has good sight lines from the driver's seat.
• we walked right past Honda and VW They didn't have anything worth looking at.
• I really liked the Subaru Impreza WRX and the Legacy.
• the only thing that mazda had was the miata, bleh.
• Dodge had a '72 Challenger in Plum Crazy sitting next to a new Challenger and it made it blatantly obvious of how the messed up the proportions on the new Chargers and Challengers.
• Nissan had a pre-production GT-R, meh, its nice to look at, but it was all locked up, roped off, and you couldn't play with it.
• Ford had a pretty good showing. I really liked the fusion. I'm kinda looking to get one anyway, and they said that they'd send me an email that I can print off and bring with me to go test drive one and they'd mail me a check for $50. thats pretty neat.
• Mercury suprised me, nobody told me that they suddenly turned into the more luxury focused side of ford. The Milan looked really good and had subtle accents that the fusion didn't have. It seemed much more luxurious that the marginal price difference would suggest.
• Chevy had my favorite car of the show. The Corvette Grand Sport, Nassau Blue, with red grand sport stripes on the fenders, and targa top. Chevy also had a Transformers edition of the Camaro, yellow with black stripes, with autobot emblems placed very well. With that said, the completely screwed up the Camaro in design. its just too big in all the wrong places, the gauges are laid out all for looks and not for function,
• Cadillac did pretty good with the CTS-V. its interior is nice, as long as you don't get the overly glossy black trim and opt for the brushed silver. Everything is laid out right for the most part, and its a Z06 Corvette engine shoved in the body of a caddy. its nice, but not $80k nice.
• Buick, well.... its buick. lots of seniors milling around there. and I have no idea why Buick thinks that they need to put vents on every single car they offer. At least now they've moved them up from the side of the fender to the corners of the hood. its marginally better, but still ridiculous.
• Lexus' IS350 looked really nice, and the 460 or something was just a bigger version and looked very well done.
• Toyota, well.... they had the best bags at the show. they were cloth. and they also had an awesome van designed for handicaped and wheelchair bound with a winch in the back for picking up scooters and a passenger seat which rotated out of the car and down to ground level so you could scoot from chair to seat pretty easily.
• besides that, there was the "Million Dollar Mile" basicly a bunch of rare exotics that were roped off. There were a few Bentleys which look nice, but are bleh next to the Maseratis and Lamborghinis. The lines on those are just so clean and simple that it just makes you go wow. Also, there was a 1917 Chevy v-8 that pushed out all of I think 14 hp? It was beautiful and in near perfect condition. it is 1 of only 18 in existence, and probably in the best shape of any other one.

All in all, it was a really good day and I thought I would share.
