So Daniel (richee3) told me that to get condensation out of my high beam (and to make it stay out for awhile), all I had to do was run my high beams for 20-30 minutes. I figured sure okay, 20-30 minutes, that's not bad, my battery will be fine. So I run them, come back to my room, and 15 mins later my dads yelling "YOU'RE LIGHTS ARE FLICKERING" I'm like wtf? So I run down and my driver side HID is flashing and turning on and off and then it just died. My dad chimes in with his nonsense about how much he knows about cars telling me it's my bulbs burning out and blah blah blah. I tell him that the HIDs run off the battery and he doesn't believe me (he's an old school guy who has never even heard of HIDs, all he knows is that they hurt his eyes), so I tried turning the key and sure enough, dead battery. I jump my car from his and boom, the light works again. Then we're fighting about how I'm 'ruining my car for some nonsense' and I finally just have to leave. I got in my car and just left. There's this place pretty close to me, all empty streets and a few model homes. If you've ever seen any pics of my car in the middle of the road, yeah, that's the place. So I go there and pull off to the side of the road, turn on my high beams, and lean back in my chair. 10 minutes roll by and I hear a car approaching. There's NEVER any cars that go down where that is, so I get up and look behind me. There is 2 sets of headlights rolling up behind me. One pulls in front of me, blocking the front part of my car and the other pulls behind me. As the one went by me I read "Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department." You all know the feeling. SHEEEEITTTT. So they shine all of their spotlights and stuff at me and ask me to get out of the car. They start questioning me and questioning me. I try to explain to them what I was actually doing there but they didn't want to hear it. They wanted the "real" story. So I had to explain to these idiots what condensation was and how leaving your brights on for an extended amount of time can get all of the condensation out. They ask if I was a licensed driver, I said "ofcourse" and handed them my license. As the cop calls in my license number, the other one is leaning into my car (the window was down) with his maglite looking around at stuff. The dispatcher came back on and told me my license was invalid and I was not found. This is where my heart dropped. I knew I hadn't done anything wrong and that I was legally licensed, but my stomach still felt like it was at my feet. As I try to explain that they are idiots (I'm already pissed at this point) and that I am a licensed driver, the cop that was going through my car puts me in handcuffs and sets me down in the back of his car. The cop asks me what my parents phone number was, where I "actually" live and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember at the moment. I'm PUMPED lol. So in the background I hear the dispatcher repeat my driver's license number back to the officer and I say "That's wrong, she got a number wrong" so they recheck the license number and what do ya know? IT'S VALID. So they took the handcuffs off of me, apologize, and ask me AGAIN what I was doing here. I explain it yet again and they inform me that someone had just broken into one of the model homes that I was parked down the street from. Then they both complimented my car, said "Have a nice day" and both took off.
To say the least, I'm a little shaken up right now. I don't know if anything like this has ever happened to you guys, but it scared me a lot. I still have the red lines from where the handcuffs were on my hands. I have tons of adrenaline running through my body. What have I learned from all of this? NEVER LISTEN TO DANIEL ABOUT ANYTHING. HE'S A SHERIFF IN DISGUISE. (Just kidding). But yeah, crazy stuff. ![]() -------------------- 1996 Toyota Celica GT (GT4 conversion) - SOLD :(
