 Need help- 94 Celica ST CV joint stuck in transaxle |

I am attempting to remove the CV joints from the transaxle and they are not coming out. They are not the flanged CF joints, they are the splined inner ends and mymanual says they should just come out easily. Well they are not. I have pounded, yanked, tapped, tried everything, they are not coming out. Is there a snap ring or something that I'm missing? Help!

I changed my axles several years ago and had this same problem. The driver's side axle popped right out, but the passenger side took me, 2 other guys, a rope, and a very loud grunt. Nearly pulled the car off the jack stands.
