Hey peeps. Got myself a Gen 6 on Saturday, already have two gen 4's but they are in the process of being sold and a MK2 MR2. Wanted a gen 6 for ages and decided to have a butchers on Ebay to see what was about. Came across one in West Brom which the bloke didn't want much for, and on getting there he was easy to knock down, so now I'm worried iv bought a wrong un. Its a 95 car, Imported in 2000. Black 212000K on the clock. He changed the cam belt 3 weeks ago and the radiator, he said it was a GT4 radiator (is there any difference?). Apart from a few niggly things the car seems solid, no rust and the engine is clean. He tried to respray the O/S rear wing and has made a right hash of it so that'll have to be sorted at some point. I know that a common fault on these is the rear bushes which lead to knocking, which this does....are these bushes a big expense to get changed?

Ok, can one of you kind souls give me a quick run down on these cars, ie whats the difference between a JDM and a UK car. Performance figures, common problems, easy upgrades etc.

Cheers.
Steve.

Uh, "niggly"? That seems like a really sketchy slang term. Not too sure how I feel about that one...

There's some really great info articles on the site here, you can find them here: http://www.6gc.net/information

Also, specifically pertaining to your question about the difference between a JDM and UK car, that's going to be a *bit* of a tough one for most of us to answer being that so many members of the site here in the US or Canada, but there's a little info about it in a Wikipedia article, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Celica....281994-1999.29

So far as I know, the Euro model GT came with a 3SGE engine (which we in the US did not get). Yours, being a '95, is not the ever sought after BEAMS engine, but it's still not too shabby. (this would also explain the GT-Four radiator, as the GT-Four is a 3SGTE) Here's what I found in another Wikipedia article:
QUOTE
The third generation 3S-GE was produced from 1994 to 1999. Power output was increased to 177 bhp (132 kW, 180 PS) over the gen 2, while torque figures stayed the same. Non JDM 3S-GE motors received a minor revision in 1996 for emissions (EGR) which reduced power output to 173 bhp (125 kW, 170 PS) @ 7000 rpm.

Anyway, hopefully this is enough info to get you a decent background so you know where to begin your research. Welcome to the site!
