Hi all, today I was driving in highway and everything was going well....when I came back in city when I arrived at first light and had to stop I took a fast look to the gauge cluster and noticed a red light so I worried and turned off the car.
Then I restarded it and no lights went on...after a while I started to run again and when I stopped again I saw the engine oil light on!! frown.gif frown.gif
So I parked to analize the problem.
I shutted off again checked the engine oil quantity and was ok, not full but ok and no oil leaks at all.
I started again and no lights on but after about 10 seconds running at idle the light came ON again frown.gif frown.gif
I noticed that if I just rev to 2k or more RPMs the light goes off so the pump at 2k + RPMs work.
I thought the following possibilities:

- Oil sensor not working good.
- Oil pump not working
- Oil pump dirty

What do you thing guys???????????????? confused.gif

2 possibilities, bad sensor or low oil pressure. I would get a gauge and screw it into the block (may need a flex hose to do this- all parts avail at parts store just need gauge, hose and any adapter fittings ) If pressure is really low, (anything above approx 10 psi at idle is ok), then start worrying about eng probs. could be the oil pump, or more likely the oil press relief spring. or prb in oil system, I have seen other engines pop out a plug at the end of an oil galley, thus losing press at low rpm, not sure if this would apply to your eng. some of the plugs screw in,
Last thing to check, or maybe 1st if press is truely low, is it running excessively rich to the point fuel is going past the rings and diluting the oil to the point it is too thin?
