I heard about it from a friend and looked it up. Its essentiall a DUI check point with random pull overs. some have mobile dynos, others have a sort of drive by sensor that takes a picture like a red light cam does if your smog levels are too high!

is cali just as strict on obd 1 vehicles as they are on obd 2?

is cali just as strict on obd 1 vehicles as they are on obd 2? Yes if not a little bit more. OBD2 cars are constantly monitoring the evap systems and catalytic converter. So if you are a smog tech you would prefer to see obd2 cars over obd1 cars just because it takes less time to test. -------------------- ![]() |
