I want to replace my intake manifold and plenum - the plenum is easy, but the manifold itself looks kinda tricky and removing the fuel rail scares me because I've never done it before and have NO idea how to do it properly or what to expect.
Can anyone direct me to a decent how-to, or do a quick write-up for me? Other than disconnecting the battery and not smoking around it, what safety precautions do I need to take when pulling the injectors & disconnecting the fuel rail? I don't at ALL know the proper way to do this, and I don't entirely trust Haynes. -------------------- ![]() |

Well originally I was just going to replace the plenum, but as I got there I realized that the replacement plenum I have is from maybe a '97 ST? I dunno, the corner of it is different than my stock one, so it doesn't mate up properly to my intake manifold.
I want to replace them because I have powder coated ones that I've had for over a year, and am finally just getting around to it. It's more for the learning experience than anything, but the bling doesn't hurt either. I heart shiny stuff. ![]() So to remove the injectors from where they mount into the manifold (yes, they do mount in there, by the way), do I just unplug them and then pull them out? Will fuel leak or spray out at me, blinding and disfiguring me for all eternity? -------------------- ![]() |
