If I just replace the boot, what are the odds it will start clicking?

Depending on where it's torn, too, there's a clamp you can buy to put on the boot to clamp it shut. $3 fix until you get around to the axle. I've had a clamp on mine for like 2 years and have yet to have a problem. (watch, my cv joint is gonna break on my way home now LOL)
