my carbon hood is really faded and has a yellow sorta haze all around. I want to return it to that nice laminated carbon fiber shiny look. what can i do to return it to the shiny way it was when it was new?

I'm pretty sure it's just sun bleached from UV rays, so it can't be removed. That's why on newer cars with exposed carbon fiber they put this super expensive coating on for protection, like the roof of the e92 BMW M3. Just paint it white to match your car!
EDIT: carbon fiber is supposed to be painted anyway. you aren't supposed to leave it exposed unless you throw like 5 coats of clear on it for protection. And even then you will get yellowing from the resin holding the fiber weave together from exposure to UV rays. This post has been edited by flyinglizard: Apr 10, 2010 - 10:58 AM |
