Hi, all
I wanna know how much of a 3S-GE engine and where I can get it, and also does it worth to swap into the GT model, cos I don't have enough money to sway a 3S-GTE engine. ![]() ![]() |

The Beams version is not availiable in the US. Actually, there is only one version availiable in the US, and that's the 1st generation 3sge that came in the old 4th gen Celica GTS. It wasn't very powerful... only about as powerful as a 5sfe. As for the Beams, you can probably have one imported for around 3-5 grand... They're not cheap. Again comes the question of VVTi vs. Vtec. Let me tell you now... it's no comparison... especially since you mention Honda's 'K' series. The 'K' series motors are pretty fricken awesome... IMO, one of the best 4 cylider n/a motors there is. When compared to the Beams 3sge, it's probably around 3 to 4 times more complicated, with 2 stages of vtec, high-compression, torque and POWER... the K series is by far Honda's best. The Beams cannot compare. In fact, many that have worked with the Beams 3sge say it's very overrated at 200 hp... by 10 hp or more. The Beams is a good motor, however, it wouldn't be worth the extra few thousand it costs over the 3rd or even the 2nd gen 3sge's (non-TVIS 180hp and TVIS 160 hp respectively).
