This debate is ridiculously true. Unfortunately the low power Celicas 6g that were sold in the states were pitifull. That is the reason why Celica has not been sold much in the states and is now being scraped. The idiots in Toyota let the hondas take over with their lighter and more tunable civics and integras. I had an ST206 Curren JDM for the past 5 years with no mods (180 bhp with 98octane petrol) and i was only beaten once by a fully tuned integra and by a WRX. The JDM Celis are effortlessly comparable with the type R hondas and not the plain models.
Nontheless, i also have an ST205 GT4 now (no mods yet) and Hondas do not even dare race me. I am waiting for the time when i race a tuned Evo or WRX and get beaten before i start tuning the GT4. Sad but true; the US spec Celica is just not powerful with its 3S-FE engine. In every other country the Celica was sold with the 3S-GE engine with about 50 bhp more. |
