We are thinking about making either aluminum or carbon steel strut bars.

I'd say about $150 shipped sounds reasonable, but that's more up to you to judge pending materials and labor.
However, I'd be happy to save extra compared to a traditional two-point, provided that it does make a difference in stiffness & support, and that it isn't terribly more difficult to install. I just realized, I have a sub in the trunk that is pushed against the rear seats and won't be able to be there if I get a three-point...I dunno, I'll figure it out. Will, could you post up some comparisons between a two-point and three-point, if any are available?
