ok i really want to know what can i do to make my rpm's be lower when i drive on the freeway because theyre at 3 when im doing 60 and my car wastes more gas like that any ideas?

Welcome to driving a 4-cylinder motor. I have yet to own a 4-cylinder car that wasn't at 3-4k RPMs when on the highway. Nothing wrong with it, that's how mine works and I get over 30 mpg.

If you're getting really bad mileage then you have an other problem going on.

This. That's exactly what I was going to say. My 5S was returning over 30 highway mpg's when I sold it. It's not really causing any excess wear and tear on the engine. It's not a huge displacement engine, so it's not using a ton of gas like everyone assumes it would just because it's turning 3,000 rotations per minute. Granted, you'll use less gas at a lower RPM, but you should still be getting around 30 mpg.
