I don't know if this has always been there, because I just noticed it, but I dunno, it doesn't seem like an intake manifold should have a hole like that. Does anyone know what it's for??

He's Right.
Not Every car that recieved the 7a-fe motor; had the same arangement. Obviously, some cars have things in different places. Such as Brake booster, Fluid Resiviores, relay boxes, clutch lines, ect ect ect. The 7afe was a popular motor too. It was in a wide aray of vehicles. So instead of making each peice different for the same motor, it'd be easier to just mass produce one part, then use the bolt-in point if they needed it or leave it if they didn't.
