so i've been car shopping for maybe a year now, not too serious at first but as time went on, my searches had more of a purpose. so my question to you, the people of 6gc.net, with all the help you've given me so far is this: if the plan now is to get my fathers truck, but i still want a celica, should i still try and find a whole celica with little to no problems that is close and cheap, or start a project car and buy parts over-time to make a whole celica? or just find a whole new car in general? i appreciate any and all answers and also any leads for buying anything to help!
thanks everyone!!! |

Buy one that runs. It's much easier to fix problems as they come up than it is to be overwhelmed with the problems of a car that doesn't run at all. Think of it like this.. Buy a car that doesn't run. Buy a motor- it has unknown problems. Spend time and money sorting that out. Once the car is running, you find out that 2 of the 4 brake calipers are sticking. More time and money sorting that out. Get the car rolling again, find out that 3 of the rims are bent. Replace those. Drive the car around for a few weeks, you find out that your struts are blown very badly. Now your tires are shot. New tires. Drive around a little while longer, you find out that the car has a very serious electrical problem somewhere. More time and money spent trying to get that fixed. There might be a lot more problems after that. Or there might not be any problems with it at all. You just never know. But with a car that runs, you at least have a good general idea of what problems the car might have.
