I was wondering on how your intakes affected your gas mileage because my friend said that it ruines your gas mileage and I didn't see this in my car so I was wondering on what affect an intake has.

Thanx

Well if the intake is actually doing what its supposed to do and getting more air through your intake system into the engine then it will hurt your gas mileage since your ecu will adjust the air/fuel mixture to compensate. I think thats your vaf sensor that measures air intake? Thats my take on it anyways.

Most mods that increase power will effect gas mileage considering alot of mods involve increasing air/fuel mixtures, atleast the effective ones.

Nope. There won't be all that much effect at lower throttle openings where the ECU is in closed loop mode. When you floor it, the ECU goes to open loop and doesn't compensate at all. There will be no change in the map, therefore no change in the mileage.

It ruin is gas mileage because an intake will give a little HP inturn cuasing lead foot syndrome.
