Has anyone performed a port and polish on the 5S-FE? and what gains and/or problems did you have?

QUOTE was under the impression that a port and polish was just making your engine back to stock and overhauling it, i thought if you bored it out and possible made it from a 2.2 to a 2.3 or 2.4 then maybe you would see that kind of gain, but 30-40hp from a port and polish? You are kind of right about the port and polish and the bore. It basically restores lost power, but will put it over stock if done right... and please DON'T bust out a dremel and try this yourself! As for changing the displacement ex.. 2.2 to a 2.4 this is done by boring and resleveing your cylinder walls. you will aslo need to install new pistions to get the best gains out of this. Keep in mind that if you are going to turbo your car you need to not go too big in a displacement change. Also new cams and gears would be a smart thing to do if you are thinking about P&P and/or boring. Talk to a tech shop before doing anything like this they will be able to suggest which route would be the best for what you want the engine to do when it is done. -------------------- ![]() 99 project version 3.0.. hello SEMA 2010 =) |
