98 and Up 3S-GTE, ST215 Options

Has anybody ever heard of the ST215. It supposedly has 260hp. I'm not sure about torque or anything else but here is the link. You will have to scroll down just a little and check out the pics too. It is from venus auto. They don't have it yet but what is it. A 4th gen 3S-GTE or is just another name for the group A engine?

Toyota's been disspointing lately.

The 7th gen, personally, I feel was a waste of time. The car is slower than a rotting log and has nothing new and innovative which is NOT Toyota style at all!

They also quit the Supra line for a few years and are still unsure about bring it back, which makes me mad. Their one high end import performance type car....and they decide to stop the line for a few years if not forever.

NOW, this talk about putting a v8 in the Supra! If they do that, then I feel that their purpose is trying to compete with the Trans-Am sports cars of today....such as the Mustang which totally defeats Toyota's purpose and is YES definitely a step back. The Supra fits in the price range with the RX series of Mazda. With the new RX8 sporting a 440hp twin turbo option, Toyota needs to get their act together and get the Supra or something like it that can compete with that car....so they will be able to keep some business with people spending that kind of money for a sports car.

Also, the MR2 is rather disspointing as of late. I drove the newer MR2, and it doesn't have that get-up-n-go feel that the older ones had. I drove an older with a turbo a few months ago when I saw it on the side of the road for sale. It was too much for my checkbook, but it was way more fun to drive than the newer one.

My feelings are that this whole import war has a new competitor...Mazda.

Go drive the new Mazda 6s. You'll see what I mean.

Now go through the dealership while you're there and look at how many of the newer cars have automatics and which have manuals...compare that to a Toyota dealership. As I walked through a local Toyota dealership's lot I was looking for the Celica with a stick and the only one I found was a 91 GT. I looked throug the V6 Camry's and a stick? No! Matrix? Not a one! MAZDA - Hmmm....only five of the 20 Mazda 6 cars they had there were autos. Mazda is going to be a new appeal to the import scene and these are pieces of evidence that show it.

Toyota really needs to just look at where the money is right now. Keep their stupid SUV roll-me-over things automatic...mom's drive those and like automatics....that's the same reaosn why 80% of the V6 Mustangs that are sold have automatics....cuz Mom's that wanna feel young drive em. BUT, the Celica, MR2, and Supra...people who want the sports car appeal and performance without killing their budget is where the money is. The Celica was made to be a sports car that would be economical...so it's never going to be a true performer because that would defeat its purpose....but the MR2 needs some gusto and the Supra NEEDS to get its ass going to compete with the newer more expensive and powerful sports cars of today like the RX8 and others.
