I've been reading the feasible engine swaps and it looks like for my 94 ST that the 4AGE blacktop would be the best fit, though I am liking the 4AGZE I don't think its neccessary for me at this time.
I guess my question is, has anyone done a successfull swap like this before into the ST? Any pitfalls they may had had? I found some ebay listings for some blacktop engines, but have heard that its not a good idea to go that route? And the stock tranny should bolt right up to mine? My car has right now 315k and its using oil alot more in between changes, I am fixing to have alittle bit of money from selling a truck and am weighing out my options. I love my celly but I want more power and it looks like I wont be getting rid of it anytime soon, so why not put more life into it. I was wondering though price wise, what would be a realistic price for a completed swap? Also, anyone know of a reputable dealer that I could get a good clip from? Thanks guys |

why dont you just give your engine a re-fresh? pull engine, tear it down, machine the cylinder walls .020 over, get the oversized pistons, new rings, bearings, gaskets, and then turbo it. Trust me a Turbo 7A-FE is WAAYYY more fun than the 4A-GZE.

Finding a person where I live that can do this kinda work reliably is difficult and to be honest I didnt think it would be cost effective to turbo the 7afe.
Have you done this? I am wanting to go as economical as possible with the upgrade and was seeing that the 4age was a direct drop in. I am open to many options here, I just want more power, lol This car wont die so I might as well revive her! why dont you just give your engine a re-fresh? pull engine, tear it down, machine the cylinder walls .020 over, get the oversized pistons, new rings, bearings, gaskets, and then turbo it.
