The other day noticed my car starting to idle to idle a little funny, sounded almost like a boxer engine at idle.
thought it may be my plugs, they were only about 6 mo old. i was using 10w30 instead of 5w30 so thought it could be that. So friday i Seafoamed the car, then changed the oil and the plugs Runs great now, but the CEL came on the other day, read it as EGR code, had it deleted and it hasnt come back but my idle is a little weird now, seems like it is idleing a little lower than normal but smoother, has a little bit of a shake too it though, thoughts anyone? My car was idling extremely weird several months ago. Kinda like the boxer noise you're talking about. It almost even sounded like a diesel engine when it idled warm. I knew she needed a valve adjustment, but that wasn't it. That was just causing a light twittering, chirping sound. So I had a mechanic look at it, turns out that the main cam gear (since our motors aren't TRUE twin cam) had lost its pre-load and needed to be rebuilt. After that, it idled just fine.
I dunno if that's what you're experiencing, but maybe that'll give you some insight lol This post has been edited by HectortheRican: Nov 22, 2010 - 1:18 PM -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09
