I have had this particular problem with my Celica for a while and finally got time to fix it (tried anyway):
When I open the driver's side door the dome light comes on and when I close the door it goes off. Like it should. The passenger's side will never come on. On the other hand the trunk light is always on (had to remove light bulb in order to not drain my battery). I have ordered two brand new pin switches from dealer but it didn't fix the problem. I even tried switching driver's with passenger's to eliminate bad switch. The result is still the same. Does anybody know what's wrong and how to fix this annoying issue? It would be good just to check your fuses. I remember I had to replace a fuse because ALL of my interior lights didn't work. And the on/off switch should be where the light is. I'm going to go start my Celica in this cold winter so I'll check and get back to you sir.
