Okay guys, time to spill the beans. I am buying a 98 GT 5speed with 200k miles on it. I am buying from a dealership so the engine wont last as long as being kept up to date like a real owner of a celica would do. Does any of you all have an estimate to when I would need a new engine? I'm going to try to nurse it and baby the hell out of the engine till its last breath but its last breath is inevitable.

you have to take into account the transmission and suspension. Those parts have 200k miles on them also.
Before you take it home make sure there is no strange noises while going over bumps and the steering is tight. It can cost an arm and a leg to replace suspension bushings. My friends car has 250k miles on it and it runs great. Only problem is it would not pass smog because the catalytic converted is worn out. |
