so when i start my car, usually on cold days, i hear kind of like a mix of scratching and rattling in the engine bay. I say scratching cause i found out that when i press the clutch the sound goes away. When I let go it comes back. Now this is only when i start the car and it goes on till i drive. After driving it's not present. Since the sound goes away when i press the clutch i was guessing somewhere along the "Clutch disk rubbing on the flywheel" area. Any input will be greatly appreciated thanks.

From personal experiance from the symptoms youve listed, i have dealt with loose pressure plates bolts to a bad bearing, to a destroyed bearing. All have caused symptoms that you have mentioned...Have you tried to "look inside" the bell housing to see if anyting could be amiss. I once did that and saw metal shaving everywhere.

I once did that and saw metal shaving everywhere. i havent looked inside the housing yet. but i wouldnt be surprised if i saw the same thing you did. If the clutchdisc is burnt can it still be repaired or would it be better to just grab a new one? I know i can just remachine the flywheel. Kinda sucks i just got my clutch changed a year ago |
