I just bought a 95 celica GT liftback for the sole purpose of rally racing. I'm building it to meet Rally America and NASA specs.
I'm scrolling through reading as much as I can about the car, but any opinions on weak areas on this car would be appreciated; as in stresses a rally car might really effect. I will be welding as many seems as I can find, at minimum 6 point cage, but i'll probably make it 8 as i plan on going through the firewall to the front strut towers. Basically just reinforcing anything I can. My goal is to compete in blackriver stages next september. Well, I have off this week. Finally have some time to work on the car.
I cut the roof because where I mounted the cage it would have been a pain in the ass to drop the cage through the floor to complete the upper welds. Honestly it will be easy to weld back into place; grind/sand it down, little bondo and you'll never know i chopped it off. I'm going to have to cut the entire cowl area out because when I cut through the firewall for the tube that attaches to the front strut towers. Well I'm dumb and realized water will be flowing through here when it rains and will now leak into the car. So i'll have to fix this somehow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq
