After that nice disclaimer.... Ok im tired of looking at 500 dollar calipers. Yes it would be nice, but what about the people that dont have money. anything other that our poor piss single piston caliper would be nice.. but there are double piston calipers from some ss3 celicas, yeah!! even more rare that hens teeth. (well maybe not) ![]() regardless of that issue, i will not spend 1899 on a big brake kit on a car that is not going to the track, i rather eat that money in bigmacs. So imagine a bigger car, bigger engine. Those brakes stop that car, it must stop the celica. Hmmm larger car. So it must be an upgrade. Yes by 25% or 50% its still upgrading even if it gets 10%. so i ordered from fleabay, after weeks of pictures and pictures. got it today and see both brake pads together ![]() now that i got your attention, lets see more pics ![]() ![]() almost same size, a little larger and wait it gets better.. ![]() yes that's a celica bracket from a 97 gt, but there is a problem, the cliper mounts are 3/4 of an inch inside the caliper... aprrox.. ![]() so i compared the brackets... side by side ![]() they are almost identical except the point where the caliper bolts... no its not easy to bolt the bracket into the celica because of the mounting points.. ![]() however its funny how the caliper mount points are identical, ![]() so most calipers points could be identical... meaning its junkyard time... there are two options, get another celica bracket and cut those extended studs and figure if it works.. ![]() or find a bracket from another toyota that bolts to our hub and has the same caliper mounts but in a different position. OR! something you can come up with to help this...... And please no "Just get st205 calipers" replies, This caliper was 25 bucks on ebay. Big difference. I will let you all know where this one comes from but for now, i just want you guys to get itchy. I bet culpable knows!!! LOL no, this is not world domination, i need your help, this might turn out great, or it may not work..... Once we figure out the bracket, it may just work with the celica rotors... ok guys, im done with this and as always
QUOTE FIRST OF ALL DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. DO NOT HOLD ME RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES, "FOR OFF ROAD USE ONLY, NOT HIGHWAY" Ha hahere are the final pics... MR2 pad vs the celica pad, very close in shape... means caliper are equally centered. ![]() both caliper brackets side by side... the only problem with mr2 bracket is the points that attach to the spindle, the rest is equal except for coupe of mms. ![]() ![]() views of the caliper mounted to the brackets and comparison. Red one is the GT celica the dirty one is the MR2 turbo ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() the contacts with the gt celica pad and the pistons are good, centered, good thing is not needing a special disc. Im giving it a go for my car, and to top that off some sandblasting ![]() and TLC ![]() once i have the paint all dried up, ill post the final pics.. All you naysayers, upgrade can mean anything, looks, bling, performance, or PREFERENCE... TOTAL COST: 126 for brakes, 1 can of brake fluid, i can of caliper paint, couple ounces of 80 grit dust. To me this is PRICELESS... This post has been edited by njccmd2002: Jun 23, 2011 - 10:15 AM -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years...
