Well after searching online for my answer ive gotten myself confused, so i want to see what everyone on here says....I am using a 5sfe crankshaft for an upcoming engine build. My question comes in at, would i have to use a 5sfe rod/3sgte piston combo, or could i get away with using 3sgte rods and pistons. I remember reading somewhere that there is a company that makes 3sgte rods to fit the 5sfe crank. Anyone mind shedding some light on the topic?

Also, are there any other variables with using a 5sfe crank in a 3sgte block that i should be aware of?

Yes exactly. Anywho the 5sfe crank from what i can understand is an incredibly strong piece of equipment for what it is. Espcially when compared to the 3s crank which is a cast piece while the 5s is forged. And considering the price of a 5s crank used its a steal!

My plans revolve around this factor, and a forged rebuild in general. The extra space in the combustion chamber is just a bonus. There isnt anyone on these forums that has done this before?

i dont know who told you the 3s crank is cast. but they are all forged.

if your thinking building a 5s crank based stroker is gonna be "cheap" your in for quite a suprize.

x2 Why do you think all of us swapped from 5S guys don't just have stroked engines? It's not like we didn't have the parts.
Check ice22's (or something like that) thread - gets insanely expensive.

Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them.
